The Design
The 'Conquer Cancer' license plate is designed to capture both the hope and sorrow of a cancer diagnosis, able to reflect how we feel moment to moment.

The flame is to wish on and represents eternal hope. It means never give up.
The teardrop is the somber reality of a difficult cancer journey.
There is a sailboat on the edge of the water and a star in the sky.
In the background, the Sun is either brightly rising, or in the midst of setting.

Early designs of the plate were sketched out and painted in watercolor before
becoming digital on its way to being part of the plate. The finished product is printed by 3M onto a sheet of reflective translucent material. The requirements defined a certain size, location, and number of colors that the design could include.
