Every Dollar Counts
The Conquer Cancer Coalition takes pride in every dollar raised and every plate on the road. There is a heart-felt story behind each plate, and we want to describe some of the amazing work that you help support. Together we have raised over $400,000 which has gone entirely into the fight against all cancers.
In 2010, you are helping to fund research, lodging, services, advocacy, and much more to positively affect the lives of so many of people traveling the cancer journey. Thanks to you we recently distributed $100,000 to help fight all cancers and empower the community.
RESEARCH | $15,500
You help fund several studies hypothesizing vitamin D as a protective factor for colorectal cancer. There has been some evidence that vitamin D deficiency may also play a role in other cancers, such as breast, ovarian and lung cancer. There are several studies Channing Laboratory is now actively developing in this field.

LODGING | $15,250
You help fund free lodging to approximately 1500 cancer patients and their families each year that might otherwise be forced to forego lifesaving treatment in Boston, and more patients and families, regardless of their circumstances, will have access to state-of-the-art cancer care and the lifesaving information and support services they need throughout the cancer experience.

COMPASSIONATE CARE | $15,250
You help fund a multidisciplinary forum where caregivers discuss difficult emotional and social issues that arise in caring for patients. Over 37,000 clinicians across the country participate in these interactive discussions and share their experiences, thoughts and feelings on different topics.

SUPPORT SERVICES | $16,275
You help fund a range of services and information, and we hope that among them you find something that fills your needs at this difficult time. We are committed to providing a space full of connection and friendship, a place to grow and empower your self and an atmosphere of hope and healing. FCT is an open and accepting community, available to all people who face a diagnosis of cancer.You may find strength in the connection and sharing of a support group, or in the silence of meditation and the relaxation of yoga. You may prefer to write about your journey, or express your feelings through art. Whatever your choice, we hope that the community of FCT will provide a comfortable and warm holding environment for you.

ADVOCACY | $15,250
You help fund a series of straightforward one-page Tip Sheets, created by survivors and caregivers to educate those who are on the cancer journey. These sheets were designed specifically for patients/survivors and family members who may not have the energy to read lengthy printed materials about various survivorship issues. They list specific tips that will encourage the physical and emotional support of cancer patients/survivors, family members and friends during the many stages of survivorship. These tip sheets are also provided to hospitals and cancer clinics throughout New England, and are available at conferences and events.

You help fund a variety of great causes that make a daily impact in the lives of cancer patients and their familes, and when you buy a brick for the Cancer Garden of Hope, you can choose to support some amazing causes, including:
Planting gardens at the home of breat cancer patients as part of the healing process
Programs at Cancer Centers including Mass General, Beth Israel Deaconess, Dana Farber, Tufts, Brigham and Womens, and Boston Medical Center
Support groups and survivor networking thoughout the state of MA
Pallative care and alternative complimentary cancer care
